Robert Jenkins Profile – Golf Writing and Some Thoughts About It

Robert Jenkins is one of the leading authors of several books on golf, including multiple ones on the subject. Robert has a very distinctive style of writing about golf, and his work will be of much value to those who play the game or are interested in improving their game. As an amateur golfer, I found Robert’s book, The Book of Golf, to be an easy read that held my attention through its 500 pages or so. Robert’s style of writing about golf is detailed, and he makes a point of showing why certain things are done during a round of golf.

Robert’s own writing style lends the book a conversational quality, and even if he is not a top golf player, he clearly states his opinions and why they are the way they are. Robert also gives quite a few recommendations regarding equipment, tips for improving your swing, and even a good number of nuggets regarding the history of golf and golfing in general. If you like golf books with a lot of history, Robert’s book will probably interest you as there is quite a bit of background on the game of golf, its development, and how the game came to be. While I don’t necessarily agree with everything in The Book of Golf, I did enjoy reading it since it was written by an author who is a top player and knows what he is talking about.

Although I think that The Book of Golf is a good read, I do not necessarily recommend it to golfers just starting out. Some of the nuggets in the book are a little too far fetched to be accepted as fact by many serious golfers. But, if golfers who already play but want to improve do not take the book seriously, they probably will not take the advice that is inside it very seriously either. In other words, for the golfer who wants to improve their game, Robert J. Jenkins’ The Book of Golf may be a little too ahead of its time, but the overall benefits of the book are well worth the price.
